This summer, we’re very excited to have teamed up with Community Record to bring you a 27 song sampler for the upcoming months featuring bands we love from all across the US.Â
This Free Summer Sampler is a reflection of the dedication that these two New Orleans based labels have to independent music and the pursuit of presenting that music in a radical way. Chinquapin & Community Records are most basically a group of friends. We are united by our goal of wanting to help each other spread our music to new friends (that means YOU).
Dear friends, starting July 23rd, Sun Hotel will embark on yet another East Coast / Midwest tour meeting up with friends The Lusitania, Young Jesus and JAG periodically along the way. Click on the image below to see all the dates and RSVP on facebook. If you’re in New Orleans, RSVP to the kickoff party @ Siberia with Habitat & The Lusitania
And no, we do not know what “Murder Beach Party” means…

Dear friends,
In the not too distant future, there exists a world where finals are unheard of, where every barista is a bartender, and the days of the week aren’t defined by your class schedule but your grass schedule (i’m sorry)… Though apocryphal, this future is approaching our reality at the speed of Caddywhompus… on speed! This Thursday, May 10th, Chinquapin Records would like nothing more than to help you get assimilated into this strange new world with the much anticipated release Country Club’s New Album!
In an effort to repress all things college and to express our unconditional love for uptown’s only hope, local dreamboats Country Club…
We’re making this show an all-night love affair
that means CRAY-FISH BOIL from 8 til ten, and a FREE KEG until it runs out (so arrive early and claim your American born right to free alcohol!)
The show will feature new and interesting musical endeavors from Caddywhompus and Sun Hotel
proceeded by the extraordinarily beautiful and talented Country Club
(in what is sure to be their most daring performance to date, but very possibly their last for an inhumane amount of time)
we’ll have WTUL all-stars KG Accidental spinning before the show and between sets.
Also, be sure to check out the brand new single from Country Club’s new album called “Stranger”, available on this very website
Hope to see you there!
xoxo

If you haven’t seen these already, check them out! Some sick performance shots of our very own Habitat, Caddywhompus, Choi Wolf, and others!

A BIG THANKS to all our good friends from Community Records, and WTUL 91.5 for putting on the awesome SKA-filled event we all know as BLOCK PARTY yesterday!
And thank you to the all the bands (locally and nationally) that did what they do best, and to all you awesome people who helped/went to make it all possible!
ALSO, if you thugged-out with Sun Hotel @ The Circle Bar for the After Party/Show/Rager last night, you rule!
Rest up from all of the body-slamming that went down yesterday, because TOMORROW is the Post-Block Party Event!

This weekend has been long awaited by we Chinqua-heads along with many others. This Saturday, April 21st marks Community Records’ 5th annual Block Party, an all day & night DIY music festival on Clio St. near Lee Circle.
This year, 26 bands will be featured on the linuep, with five Chinquapin Records-affiliated artists included in the festivities (Glish, Caddywhompus, Habitat, Dominique LeJeune, and Choi Wolf).
The show is all ages and there are a lot of incentives to lower your ticket price or help out people in need if that’s what you’re into.
National headliners include Mustard Plug, Stuck Lucky, Good Luck, A Billion Ernies, and our good Houston friend B_L_A_C_K_I_E.
The fun doesn’t stop (or start) there, as we are about to dive into a weekend of pre and post Block Party shows, highlighting, but not limited to a Chinquapin Records after party at the Circle Bar (starting after Block Party, featuring another Houston outfit, The Tontons, among others) and a 4/20 Sun Hotel pool party w&&d show at Ampersand.
Check out all the pre and post events associated with the fest RIGHT HERE.
In case you couldn’t tell that we’re mad stoked about this whole music feeding frenzy, we wanted to make it perfectly clear.
We’ve compiled a new batch of TREATS (snack-sized digital downloads) which feature some music from a few of the artists who are a part of this cray cray tornado of a weekend.
Enjoy the tunes and we hope to see you out there sweatin’ and groovin’ the weekend away.
